Part 1: Chi is a well-groomed second-grade student. Chi’s desk is the messiest in class, and he can never find anything on time. Despite the teacher’s effort to make him well organized, he continues to displace his grades deteriorate. The special education teacher and Madam Teresa advised the principal to call Chi’s parents to come and discuss the challenges experienced by Chi in school and how they can help him achieve better in school.
Part 11: The team.
The team includes Chi’s parents, the principal, Chi’s teacher, and the special education teacher. The students’ Chi is involved at different parts of the meetings when appropriate. Chi needs to understand why he needs to see a doctor and have a chance for self-advocacy. Before any decisions regarding the child’s learning are made, the parents must be consulted hence the need for Chi’s parents to be present in the meeting. They will also give more information on Chi’s medical history and how he carries himself at home. They can also learn ways they can help him with schoolwork while at home. The school principal will assist in providing the resources needed for Chi to help him in achieving in school. The parents are allowed to ask all questions about special needs education and give their input. They could contribute by providing more information on how Chi is at home. The collaboration and consultation of all members present in the meeting ensure that any particular need strategy is developed as per the law’s guidelines ( Kartika et al., 2018).
