Arguably, the school has operated on a much tighter budget, leading to limited resources that could negatively affect the quality of EducationEducation offered. For instance, the financial distress has resulted in our valued teachers and instructors laying off, severely impacting our academic programming. For this reason, I would like to state how the school and the entire district will benefit if the proposed plan is passed.
As I mentioned earlier, our district’s financial responsibility towards the school is commendable. However, we cannot reasonably believe that the previously proposed and implemented plans will continuously support the school, considering how fast the cost of EducationEducation rises. If our focus is on providing quality education for our children, we will need to commit ourselves financially to achieve this goal. Passing the levy referendum will mean each household that earns up to $200,000 will increase by $250 annually. While some people may have a different view concerning this increment, in the long run, the burden will be reduced as more young families will flock to our schools, attracting more revenue to our disadvantage.
Only 30% of our district households have school-going children, yet all capable homes are expected to increase their tasks. Is his unfair? You ask. Allow me to explain the logic of this approach. These children are our future, and it is our call, as human beings, to create a suitable environment for them to grow and become professionals in future. We have a responsibility to invest in their future and success. Some of them will be oncologists that will cure your cancer in future, some will be engineers that design unique infrastructure, and some will be environmentalists who will preserve and conserve our environment. As you think about opposing this referendum, think about the adverse effects it wil have on our school and community.
For this reason, I humbly request you all to pass this referendum. Picture the future and envision what is best for our community. Kindly vote yes and make this district suitable for our children, as it has always been for us, or better yet, let us provide for these children what we ever had the opportunity to have. As the adage goes, it will always come back to you when you do good. Given a chance, I guarantee these children will also create a suitable community for the next generation.
